The Ministry of Environment will ban 06 non-biodegradable items from January 2021, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.
He told reporters that sachet packets, inflatable toys, pesticide bottles, cotton buds and other items will be banned.
Steps are underway to compile a list of other items that will be banned under the next phase of the initiative.
The Minister further said the measures are being taken to create a polythene and plastic free environment in the country. (NewsWire)
