2.5 million families to get Ayurvedic medicine box to fight COVID-19

The Cabinet has granted approval for the project to provide indigenous medicines to the public to control the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Government said it has been planned to implement a program to provide indigenous immune-strengthening medicines and porridge to all families in Sri Lanka.

The program will be implemented with the aim of controlling the current Covid 19 pandemic prevailing throughout the country, it said. 

Thereby, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal tabled by the Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella in this regard. 

As per the proposal, a medicine box approved by the Formula Committee of the Department of Ayurveda will be provided to every family in the country.

Meanwhile, 2.5 million families that have lost their income during the quarantine curfew period will be provided the medicine box under the first phase of the proposed programme.

The Government added that the remaining families will be provided the medicine box during the second phase of the programme. (NewsWire)
