2.5 percent of Sri Lanka’s population and one in 40 persons are addicted to narcotics in the country, Minister of Justice Ali Sabry said.
A total of 533, 000 Sri Lankans are reported to be addicted to drugs.
Minister Sabry said if the need arises a special task force will be appointed to tackle the drug menace in Sri Lanka.
The Government will take necessary measures to eradicate the drug menace from Sri Lanka.
A high number of Sri Lankans being addicted to drugs is a grave situation and can be tackled only by a leader like President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, he added.
