The Government is likely to recall all state employees to work under a safe and secure system when the country reopens on the 1st of October, the Lankadeepa reported.
The authorities have also decided to grant permission to the private sector to recall all employees to work once the islandwide lockdown is lifted as previously announced.
A discussion in this regard was held under the patronage of Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the Finance Ministry premises earlier this week.
Labour Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, Public Services Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Passenger Transport Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, the secretaries of the relevant ministers, Inspector General of Police CD Wickramaratne, other Government officials, and representatives of the bus and three-wheeler associations participated in the discussion.
The Government is considering allowing state employees to report to work at 09 am and private sector employees to report to work at 10 am from the 1st of October.
It was also decided to provide necessary trains and buses for public transportation under strict health guidelines for both state and private sector employees to report to work.
A circular on recalling all state employees for work is set to be issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Services in the near future.
The Health Ministry is also expected to issue a new set of health guidelines in the coming days on operating the country in a normal manner once the islandwide lockdown is lifted. (NewsWire)
