24 gas related accidents were reported around the country within the past 24-hours, the police said.
A 51-year-old woman from Agalawatta area sustained severe injuries to both her legs when the gas stove exploded in her house. The woman is now being treated at the Matugama hospital.
Meanwhile, Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa today visited a house in Tissamaharama area where a gas related explosion was reported.
“We feel that the gas cylinders as well as the LP gas currently in the market are substandard. The government said they are going to ensure national security, but they are now unable to even ensure security of homes” he said speaking to reporters.
“There was a committee appointed to look in to this matter, but where is the committee report ?” He questioned.
Similar gas related accidents were reported in several areas around the country including Galle, Bandarawela, Kotagala, Batticaloa and Ambalanthota. (NewsWire)
