A female teacher who had participated in the teachers’ protest organized in front of the Kotapola National School in Matara has died after fainting during the protest yesterday.
The woman is said to have collapsed during the protest and had died upon admission to the hospital.
The incident had occurred when the protesters had marched from the school to the Getaberu Viharaua and back to the school.
The deceased has been identified as a 27-year-old resident of Deniyaya and has reportedly been treated for a heart ailment at the Deniyaya Base Hospital previously.
Hospital sources said that the woman had died prior to being admitted to the hospital.
The postmortem examination into the death will be conducted by the Deniyaya Hospital today.
The Kosmodara Police is conducting investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
