A special operation has been launched to apprehend wanted suspects based overseas conducting drug and underworld-related activities in Sri Lanka, Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles said.
Minister Alles revealed that operations are underway to apprehend and repatriate 30 such individuals involved in drug and underworld-related activities.
He further said among the 30 wanted suspects, information has been received on 29 based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and one based in France.
The Minister of Public Security said that discussions have already commenced with the relevant countries for the arrest of the wanted underworld and drug lords.
Minister Alles has warned that even if obstructions are caused to the special operation, drug and underworld-related activities will be completely curtailed within the next six months. (NewsWire)
