A man from Kandana has been arrested yesterday (19th) for spreading fake news via WhatsApp.
Police spokesman Ajith Rohana said that this person has sent messages to others in the same area that some attack will be carried out in several churches on Sunday and not to participate in Sunday Masses.
The suspect who created this fake news has been identified as a 31 year old from Waligampitiya, who happens to be an accountant working in a private company.
DIG Ajith Rohana further said that the suspect is to be produced to courts tomorrow (21st) and is expected to be remanded.
