4 alternative routes for Col-Kandy road as Lower Kadugannawa to remain closed until tomorrow

Four (04) alternative routes have been suggested as the Colombo- Kandy Road will remain closed from Lower Kadugannawa until 9 am tomorrow (12). 

The Road Development Authority (RDA) has requested motorists to use alternative routes.

The Colombo-Kandy Road was closed near the Lower Kadugannwa from 10 pm yesterday (10) owing to a landslide threat.

A single lane of the route was kept open till 10 pm and the time for the reopening of the road was to be informed after an inspection by the officials of the National Building and Research Organisation today.

However, due to the landslide threat still persisting, the RDA has announced the following alternative routes from Colombo to Kandy:

1. From Ambepussa to Kurunegala, and to use the Galagedara-Katugastota route to Kandy
2. From Kegalle to Polgahawela to Kurunegala to use the Galagedara-Katugastota route to Kandy
3. From Mawanella to Rambukkana to Hatharaliyadda to use the Galagedara-Katugastota route to Kandy
4. From Mawanella to Hemmathagama to use the Gampola-Preadeniya route to Kandy

Following are the alternative routes from Kandy to Colombo: 

1. From Katugastota-Galagedara to Kurunegala to proceed to Colombo
2. From Katugastota- Galagedara-Rambukkana to proceed to Colombo
