A pedestrian died after being knocked down by the motorcar of Puttalam district MP Ali Sabri Raheem last night.
The accident had occurred at Mampuri on the Palavi-Kalpitiya road, following which the victim had died on admission to the Puttalam base hospital.
The Norochcholai Police said Parliamentarian Ali Sabry was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The deceased has been identified as a 46-year-old resident of Manthivu in Puttalam.
The Police said the driver of the MP’s car has been taken into custody for reckless driving. (NewsWire)
