474 Covid patients identified from Sapugaskanda oil refinery

The President of the PHIs union of Sri Lanka, Upul Rohana says that out of 1200 PCR tests conducted on workers at the Sapugaskanda oil refinery, 474 have tested positive for COVID 19.

He further said that, to carry out maintenance work required to be done every 3 years at the refinery, around 400 temporary workers have been recruited and health guidelines given by the public health inspectors have not been properly followed during this process.

After information received from the workers at the refinery, PHIs have conduced random antigen tests at the oil refinery where 20 workers have been identified as Covid positive. Following this, PCR tests have been conducted on 1200 employees, where the aforesaid 474 have tested positive. (NewsWire)
