5 updates on Lanka Premier League matches today

Two important matches of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2020 will get underway today.

The Jaffna Stallions will take on the Dambulla Viikings at 3.30p.m., while the Galle Gladiators will take on the Kandy Tuskers in the evening game.

Here are 5 updates from Lanka Premier League.

1. Opening batman Sadeera Samarawickrama who didn’t get a place in any LPL squad has now been called by Dambulla Viikings. Sadeera will be available for Viikings for the 2nd half of the tournament as he has to go through a quarantine period.

2. The Dambulla Viikings who played with 3 overseas players in their first game now have the option of fielding four overseas players with Ireland’s Paul Sterling and Afghanistan’s Aftab Alam available for selection after ending their quarantine period.

3. The Kandy Tuskers who had the worst situation in terms of overseas players will also be boosted with Brendon Taylor and Munaf Patel ending their quarantine and being available to play tonight. Kandy only fielded 2 overseas players in their last game.

4. South African star Dale Steyn will be arriving in Sri Lanka today. He will be available for selection after one week for the Kandy Tuskers.

5. Injury updates

  • Dambulla Viikings Oshada Fernando

Oshada Fernando has been ruled out for at least one week from the ongoing Lanka Premier League tournament following a MRI scan done after he injured his ankle in Dambulla Viiking’s match against Kandy Tuskers on Saturday (28).

“The report on Oshada’s injury has come through and as we suspected, it is a soft tissue injury around his ankle. He will be unavailable for at least one week”, the Dambulla Viikings said.

  • Kandy Tuskers on Irfan Pathan and Shohail Tanvir

“Sohail Tanvir is still under treatment at the quarantine center due to Covid-19 situation and we are hoping for a good news soon,” the Kandy Tuskers tweeted.

“Fitness of Irfan Pathan is being monitored and availability of him for tomorrow’s game will depend on the progress of his recovery,” Kandy Tuskers tweeted yesterday.
