The New Minister of Justice President’s Counsel Ali Sabry has highlighted some key areas that need to be reformed in the future.
The Minister made the observation when officially assuming duties at the Ministry of Justice.
Minister Sabry vowed that his Ministry will not allow the Constitution or the public to be affected in any manner.
Pointing out that the last 70 years were wasted due to ethnic and religious issues, Minister Sabry assured he will create the right atmosphere to move forward as united Sri Lankans.
The Minister of Justice highlighted the following 07 key areas that require to reformed in his maiden speech after assuming duties.
- Review the Justice Ministry.
- Draft a plan to overhaul the Judicial System.
- Laws pertaining to child abuse.
- Laws pertaining to drug offences.
- Measure to be taken to prevent drug operations within prisons and outside.
- Reduce the delays in court proceedings
- Reform the Court Registrars Offices which have been reported as the most corrupt institutions. (Newswire)
