Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara says that the officials who took part in the discussion with Human Rights Commission informed that they had been pressurized to sign two documents that they did not agree to by two members of HRC and were threatened with jail sentences.
Earlier today, The Public Utilities Commission informed the Electricity Board in writing that it will NOT approve any requests for scheduled power interruptions from January 26 to February 17, in order to safeguard the human rights of candidates sitting for the GCE A/L Examination.
