State Minister of Water Supply Sanath Nishantha has faced defeat in the recent election of the Arachchikattuwa Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society.
According to Lankadeepa, the Arachchikattuwa Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society held elections on Tuesday (17) to elect 09 officials.
As per the election results, State Minister Sanath Nishantha was ranked 11th and failed to be elected.
Among the 09 elected officials, six are from the National People’s Power (NPP).
It is reported that several people had celebrated the defeat of State Minister Sanath Nishantha by lighting crackers and booing at him.
It is also reported that while State Minister Sanath Nishantha remained quiet, his brother Jagath Samantha reacted in anger and had yelled at the people.
Jagath Samantha who had also contested the election is among the 09 elected officials. (NewsWire)
