Sri Lankan migrant workers’ foreign remittances was recorded as US$ 475.6 million in December 2022.
As per Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) data, It is a 46% (US$ 150 million) increase compared to the inflows recorded in December 2021.
Remittances in December also showed an improvement compared to the previous month, which was recorded as US$ 384.4 million (Nov 2022)
However, as per CBSL data, 2022 recorded the lowest yearly total of foreign worker remittances Sri Lanka has received in the last 8 years, with a total of US$ 3.78 billion. (NewsWire)
