Sri Lanka T20 & ODI captain Dasun Shanaka today thanked Sri Lanka media for the tremendous support given to him and the team over the years.
“First of all, I want to thank the media, before I became a captain, the media helped me tremendously to come here. I remember very well when I came to SSC when nobody knew me and I scored a hundred in a T20 match with 16 sixes. At that time, the media brought it up and introduced me to the country. Only from there, many people came to know my name” Dasun Shanaka said.
“It’s through the support given by the media that I have now progressed to represent the national team. At this point I humbly thank the media for the help they have given me and the players” Shanaka added.
“Even when there were some issues, I never say no to the media. I approach the media for anything related to cricket. Similarly, on behalf of the other players of the team, I would like to thank the media for the support given to us” he added.
Captain Dasun Shanaka also requested the media to support domestic cricket in Sri Lanka by giving more coverage to young cricketers playing domestic cricket.
He also requested all media to support the team in both good and difficult times giving them constructive criticism and highlighing areas to improve. (NewsWire)
