Two youths have been murdered in two separate incidents that have been reported in the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 am today.
The Police said a woman had been killed after being attacked with a knife in the Rathmiwala area in Kadugannawa yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as a 26-year-old resident of the Rathmiwala area.
Investigations have revealed that a man who had been romantically involved with the woman had murdered her.
The suspect has been arrested, while the Kadugannawa Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, a youth has been killed after being assaulted in the Pitadeniya area in Kuliyapitiya yesterday.
The Police said the victim has been identified as a 24-year-old man from the Pitadeniya area.
Investigations have revealed that the victim had attended his friend’s bday celebration at the latter’s house, during which a dispute had occurred with the friend’s wife.
Thereafter, the friend and his associates assaulted the victim with wooden poles and a machete and tied him to a lamppost outside the residence.
The victim had died after being admitted to the hospital.
The Police said one suspect among three has been arrested, while the Kuliyapitiya Police have launched investigations to apprehend the other two suspects. (NewsWire)
