Weather : Change expected in dry weather after today

A temporary change can be expected in the prevailing dry weather in Sri Lanka, especially in the southern part, after today, according to the Department of Meteorology.

A few showers may occur in the Eastern province, while showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts in the evening or night. 

Mainly dry weather will prevail elsewhere on the island. 

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and Galle and Kalutara districts during the morning.

Meanwhile, showers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Hambantota via Batticaloa. Mainly fair weather will prevail in the other sea areas around the island.

Winds will be north-easterly or variable in direction and wind speed will be 15-25 kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 35-40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
