Russia has received a request from Sri Lanka for help to overcome the energy crisis, Russian media, RIA Novosti reported.
According to the report, the Russian Foreign Ministry said the issues of its provision are under consideration.
The Russian Foreign Ministry further said that Russia is now considering the next steps to provide assistance
“The question of how Moscow can help Colombo is still under consideration and it is too early to talk about concrete steps,” the ministry added.
The Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka yesterday revealed that Russia is considering a request made by Sri Lanka to purchase petroleum products.
First Secretary to the Russian Embassy Anastacia Hathlova said the Russian Federation supports this process.
Hathlova also denied media reports which claimed that a meeting was held between the Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka’s Minister of Energy on the matter.
Russia is among several countries Sri Lanka has reached out to address its current fuel shortage. (NewsWire)
