Ducks record as Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh to win Test series

Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh to claim a 10 wicket win in the 2nd Test that concluded in Mirpur today.

Sri Lanka clinched the two-test series 1-0 with the victory, as the first test was a draw.

Bangladesh scored 365 in the first innings, to which Sri Lanka replied with a 1st innings score of 506.

Thereafter, Bangladesh was all out for 169 in their 2nd innings, with Sri Lanka requiring a target of 29 runs to clinch victory.

Sri Lanka scored the required victory target of 29 runs with no loss.

Sri Lanka fast bowler Asitha Fernando bagged 10 for 144 in the match, becoming the 2nd Sri Lankan fast bowler to take 10 wickets in a test match.

He became the second Sri Lankan fast bowler to take a 10-wicket haul.

Sri Lanka great Chaminda Vaas holds a 10-wicket haul record set in 2001 against India and New Zealand in 1995.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh is the third team in test history to have 9 batters out for a duck in a test match.

The previous two occasions are Sri Lankan batters against India in Chandigarh in 1990 and West Indies against Australia in Brisbane in 2000. (NewsWire)
