Russia is considering a request made by Sri Lanka to purchase petroleum products, the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka said.
First Secretary to the Russian Embassy Anastacia Hathlova said the Russian Federation supports this process.
Anastacia Hathlova also said that the request by Sri Lanka is being considered, but she denied media reports which claimed that a meeting was held between the Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka’s Minister of Energy on the matter.
Sri Lanka has reached out to several countries in a bid to address its fuel shortage.
The fuel crisis has resulted in the lack of petrol and diesel, which has severely affected the public.
People are seen standing in long queues for several hours on a daily basis due to the current fuel shortage. (NewsWire)
