Maldivian Parliamentary Speaker and former president Mohamed Nasheed has met several Sri Lankan politicians since yesterday.
Nasheed met former President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (20). In his discussion with the former President, Nasheed had discussed the need for all Sri Lanka political parties to have a common vision for the betterment of the country.
He also met Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa today. Following the meeting, Nasheed tweeted that the opposition leader’s understanding of SL’s situation is precise and absolute.
He further went on to say that Sajith Premadasa clearly wants to play the part of a loyal and constructive opposition – a role often as important as governing.
Continuing his meeting with politicians, Nasheed also met with former minister Namal Rajapksa today.
“Had a productive meeting with Hon. @RajapaksaNamal this afternoon. I feel that everyone is on the same page and ready to agree on a common way forward, for a more prosperous and happy Sri Lanka.” He tweeted following the meeting.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe earlier this week appointed Nasheed as the coordinator for securing foreign aid to Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
