Temporary houses for MPs affected in unrest : Clarification from PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe provided an explanation in Parliament today on the houses to be provided for ruling party MPs due to the attacks on their houses during the unrest that erupted in Sri Lanka on 09th May.

Addressing the Parliament, the Prime Minister said the houses are being provided only as a temporary measure, while the ownership of the house will not be transferred to the MPs and will remain with the state.

He pointed out that houses were provided in a similar manner to MPs and government officials following the unrests that were reported during 1988 and 1989 as well. (NewsWire)
