Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has urged the public to exercise restraint, stating that violence only begets violence.
Issuing a statement, he further said that the economic crisis currently faced by Sri Lanka needs an economic solution that the administration is committed to resolving.
His statement comes after Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) supporters attacked anti-government protesters in Colombo today.
The SLPP supporters attacked protesters and destroyed protest-related materials at both the “‘Maina Go Gama’ protest site in front of the Temple Trees and the ‘Gota Go Gama’ protest site at the Galle Face Green in Colombo.
They acted in such a manner following a meeting with the Prime Minister at the Temple Trees this morning. (NewsWire)
