Shanakiyan responds to Ranil, poses two questions

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam responded to former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s statement mentioning the Batticaloa district MP in Parliament today.

Clarifying allegations raised against him by MP Rasamanickam over the vote to elect a new Deputy Speaker, MP Wickremesinghe said that MP Shanakiyan had supported the Rajapaksas in 2013.

The United National Party leader had also mentioned MP Rasamanickam’s name in connection to the alleged murder of 600 people by former LTTE rebel Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan.

Responding to the former Prime Minister, TNA MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam said that his appointment by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is not a secret, and he has openly apologized over the matter on multiple occasions.

The MP further said that he was not born when the alleged murder of 600 people took place by former LTTE rebel Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan.

The TNA MP called on Ranil Wickremesinghe to find the whereabouts of Arjuna Mahendran who served as the Governor of the Central Bank under his tenure as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, similar to submitting documents on his appointment by the SLFP in 2013.

MP Shanakiyan also called on the former Prime Minister to reveal details on the 3.5 billion loan that is at the People’s Bank of Sri Lanka under Perpetual Treasury Limited owner Arjun Aloysius’s Distilleries company. (NewsWire)
