Police have recovered the body of a 17-year-old girl in a tea estate in Talawa area of Elpitiya, who is believed to have been killed by slitting her throat
The victim is a resident of Karandeniya, Talgahawatta area. Investigations have revealed that she has been abducted by her brother-in-law on several occasions earlier.
According to the notice given by the police to investigate the complaint, the victim was on her way to the Elpitiya Police station in a three-wheeler with her mother and a sister on Friday (8) morning, when her brother-in-law had again abducted her.
Hansika’s parents had again lodged a complaint to the Elpitiya Police.
But before the complaint was heard, her body was found by a villager in a tea estate in Talgahawatta area of Karandeniya on Saturday (9) morning.
Initial police investigations have revealed that she may have been killed elsewhere by cutting her throat with a sharp weapon and her body disposed in the tea estate.
Police are conducting investigations to arrest the the brother-in-law who allegedly abducted her and has fled the area.
