Veteran songwriter Sunil R. Gamage has extended his apologies for writing the song “Ayubowewa Maharajaneni”.
The song which was written to praise the Government’s victory in Sri Lanka’s war against the LTTE terrorist outfit, portraited then President Rajapaksa as a king.
The songwriter said he is currently not in the place he stood in the past but is with the children of the nation at present.
He made the statement in this regard after joining the public protests at the Galle Face Green in Colombo against the President and his Government.
Meanwhile, issuing a statement Saheli Gamage who sang the song has also apologized to the public if the song she sang also played a role for the current unfortunate situation in the country.
She said that all the income from the song went for welfare of the disabled Army soldiers. (NewsWire)
