Batticaloa District MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam today offered an Rs. 5000 note to All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) MP S. M. M. Muszhaaraff during Parliament proceedings.
MP Muszhaaraff informed the Parliament that he would also be joining several other Parliamentarians in functioning independently from today.
Addressing the Parliament, the MP said he had taken the decision taking into consideration the appeals of the public over the failing economy of Sri Lanka.
The Parliamentarian was known for leaving the opposition and supporting the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
However, when MP Muszhaaraff was earlier accused of obtaining money to vote in favour of the Government, he had refuted all allegations in this regard.
During MP Muszhaaraff’s address to Parliament today, MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam was seen offering the MP an Rs. 5000 note implicating that the MP had received money from the ruling party to vote in favour.
Following this, ruling party MPs called on the opposition MP to allow MP Muszhaaraff to deliver his speech without hindrance. (NewsWire)
