A female passenger from Sri Lanka has been apprehended by custom officers in Chennai Airport while attempting to smuggle Gold to India.
Officers from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Chennai Customs have intercepted the passenger arriving from Colombo based on a tip off.
Upon inspection, officers have managed to recover 14 Gold Cut bits concealed beneath the sole of the said passenger’s slippers.
Chennai Customs sources revealed that 393 gms of Gold valued at Indian Rs. 18.84 lacks was recovered / Seized from the passenger. (NewsWire)
