An individual wanted for hacking villagers with sharp weapons in the Banduragoda area in Kotadeniyawa has been arrested by the Police last afternoon.
The man who is reportedly from a family identified as the ‘Al Qaeda’ family in the area was arrested by the Kotadeniyawa Police.
He is reported to have attacked a couple after they had attempted to prevent the suspect from attacking two young women in the area. The suspect has been identified as the elder son of the family of the two girls.
The Police said the suspect had been arrested based on information retrieved from the man’s mother following a two-day interrogation.

The area residents have informed the Police that they have been constantly harassed by this particular family and to remove them from the village, while they had also called for the arrest of other suspects involved with the main suspect.
The couple that had been attacked by the suspect is in serious condition and is currently receiving treatment at the Wathupitiwala and Colombo National Hospitals.
