The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has commenced several investigations against a Police officer who had held a senior post at the CID.
According to CID sources, an investigation had been launched into the incident where Rs. 72 million that was in the possession of a group of Nigerians who were arrested by the CID for financial fraud had been defrauded by the officer from the suspects.
The incident had been reported only when the suspects who had been produced before the court had filed a complaint with the judiciary.
The CID sources said a separate investigation is being conducted against the former high-ranking Police official into the signing of certain important documents pertaining to the arrest of the Nigerians.
The investigating officers have reportedly received information that the former senior Police official is attempting to return the stolen cash, back to the Nigerians. (NewsWire)
