Two senior officials of the Army serving the Security Force HQ-Central at Diyatalawa visited the injured French lady tourist, lying at Diyatalawa Base Hospital after she fell off a moving Badulla-bound train while trying to take a selfie near the 32nd tunnel area between Ohiya and Idalgashinna.
“On the instructions of Major General Samantha Silva, Commander, Security Forces-Central, Colonel Coordination at the SFHQ-Central, Colonel Kumudu Wadugoda and Major Asitha Ranathilaka Civil Affairs Coordinator at the SFHQ – Central visited Ms Salene Solanae (26) who had received head and leg injuries in the accident on Thursday (3). She was initially admitted to Haputale Base Hospital but was later transferred to the Diyatalawa Base Hospital for further treatment. During the visit, both Officers inquired into her health condition, pledged all the support to her and wished for her speedy recovery. Impressed with the concern and considerateness of the military and Sri Lankans in general about the injury, she thanked the visitors and volunteered to pose for a photo with them as a symbolic memory of her stay inside the hospital and the visit of those Officers” Sri Lanka Army said in a statement.
