Gas shortage : Update from Litro Gas

Sri Lanka’s primary LP gas supplier, Litro Gas Lanka says it has taken necessary measures to fulfill the country’s domestic and commercial gas requirements.

Issuing a statement, the organization said LP gas had been unloaded from two gas ships as of yesterday (27).

Stating that the institution covers 80% of gas supplies in the country, Litro Gas Lanka said it has manufactured and distributed between 30,000 – 40,000 of the 12.5kg gas cylinders on a daily basis.

The gas cylinders have been manufactured as per the requirements of the Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) and the Consumer Affairs Authority, it said.

Litro Gas further said that the production of gas cylinders had been affected due to the recalling of the old blue and black cylinders that had already been distributed to the local market, while time had been spent on retrieving and refilling gas.

The institution said it has taken measures to import new equipment that will expedite the process and minimize delays in distribution.

Litro Gas Lanka also expressed regret for the recent delay and inconvenience caused to the public in the supply of domestic gas. (NewsWire)
