Yugadanavi deal: President speaks about dissenting trio

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has chided Government Ministers over their actions with regard to the Yugadanavi power plant deal and President’s Secretary P.B. Jayasundara.

During a meeting with Newspaper Editors at the President’s House yesterday, the President said the actions of the ruling party members with regard to the two matters are wrong.

Stating that it was wrong of several Ministers to have gone to courts regarding the Yugadanavi power plant deal, he said they went against a collective Cabinet decision.

President Rajapaksa said that if the Ministers were against the decision they should have resigned and then gone to courts, adding that doing otherwise is a violation of collective responsibility and teamwork.

Meanwhile, commenting on the criticism against President’s Secretary P.B. Jayasundara, the President pointed out that that too was wrong.

He said that when Ministers and others in the Government start revealing such views the public also tends to believe that all the problems are due to one person when that is not the true case.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa further said he had raised this matter in Cabinet as well, adding that it looks like some may be acting so to cover up their own weaknesses by just ‘playing to the gallery.’ (NewsWire)
