Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal and the Secretary to the Finance Ministry S. R. Attygalle have been summoned to the Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held today (27).
Minister of Labour Nimal Siripala de Silva said discussions will be held on the measures to be taken to obtain financial assistance to settle outstanding international loans in the face of the current economic crisis, while a common consensus will also be taken in this regard.
“The first step is to reach out to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The second is to obtain financial assistance from friendly countries. The Central Bank Governor and Finance Ministry Secretary will participate in the Cabinet meeting and will present facts. The Cabinet of Ministers will thereafter take a final decision,” he said.
