Cabinet approves PM’s proposal to gift land to Yohani

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to allot a portion of land in Battaramulla to popular Sri Lankan singer Yohani De Silva, whose hit single “Menike mage hithe” found international fame.

The Government said popular singer Yohani Diloka de Silva, who brought international fame to the country, has been nominated for esteemed by various parties as well as in Parliament.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal made by the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs to allot a 9.68 perch land located at Robert Gunawardena Mawatha in Battaramulla to Yohani De Silva.

The allocated land, which belongs to the Urban Development Authority (UDA), is adjoining the lands leased to members of the 1996 World Cup-winning cricket team on a 99-year lease basis. (NewsWire)
