A man who was accused of committing several murders has been arrested while being hiding in the Yala reserve.
He had been hiding in the Yala reserve for several years and had been involved in a number of murders and robberies, the police said.
The suspect has been nabbed during a special operation carried out by the Kataragama Police for several days.
He has been identified as the main suspect in several murders and robberies that have taken place in the Kataragama area in the recent past, including the murder of a Hindu Priest in Nagaha street in Kataragama last July.
It has also been revealed that the suspect had hunted wild animals in the Yala reserve and engaged in a large scale illegal meat racket.
The police also said that a case had been filed in the Hambantota High Court against the suspect in connection with a murder that took place in the Yaya 20 area in Kataragama in 2011. (NewsWire)
