Two individuals have died after being struck by trains near the Wellawatte Railway Station in Colombo yesterday (26).
The Police said a 43-year-old man had died after being hit by a train that was plying from Beliatta to Maradana last morning.
He had been struck close to the Wellawatte Railway Station and had died on the spot. The deceased has been identified as a resident of Ingiriya.
Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man is reported to have been hit by a train close to the Ramakrishna Road junction in Wellawatte last night (26).
The man, who is a resident of Wellawatte, is said to have been hit by a train plying from Colombo to Dehiwala.
The bodies of both victims have been placed at the mortuary of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila.
The Wellawatte Police is conducting further investigations into the deaths. (NewsWire)
