Inquiry over Navy soldier’s death after falling off Gaffoor building

An individual has died after falling off the top floor of the Gaffoor Building in Fort, Colombo which is currently under renovation.

The Engineering Unit of the Sri Lanka Navy is currently conducting renovations on the ancient and historical building in Sri Lanka that was constructed by gem businessman Abdul Gaffoor in 1915.

A member of the Sri Lanka Navy unit who was engaged in renovation work had thus fallen off the building yesterday (26). 

The officer who had sustained serious injuries in the fall had died after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital. 

The deceased has been identified as a 34-yea-old resident of the Kandhaketiya area.

The body of the Navy officer has been placed at the Colombo National Hospital for the postmortem examination to be conducted. 

The Fort Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
