The Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has revoked the decision to grant approval for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) to hold a protest meeting in Colombo next week.
The main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) had sought permission to hold a meeting on 16th November at the Hyde Park grounds in Colombo 2.
The protest rally and march was to be held against what the party claimed was the “curse-filled” and “problems-piling” Government.
Despite granting approval earlier to hold the meeting under strict health guidelines, the Public Health Department of the CMC has informed the SJB that it was revoking its decision.
The Department said that the approval has been revoked due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in Colombo at present. (NewsWire)
