The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption today refiled a case at the Colombo High Court against Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Gampaha District MP Milan Jayathilaka.
The Commission had filed a case at the court in 2015 on allegations that MP Jayathilaka had requested a payment of Rs. 700,000 from a businessman to issue a licence to operate a quarry and had taken Rs 600,000 out of the sum as a bribe.
The allegations had been levelled when the SLPP MP had served as the Chairman of the Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha.
However, the case had to be withdrawn as the Commission had not obtained the approval of all three commissioners of the Bribery Commission prior to filing the case.
As the approval of all three commissioners has been obtained now, the Commission refiled the case against the MP at the Colombo High Court today. (NewsWire)
