The Australian Government has reviewed and lowered the travel advice level issued to Sri Lanka, the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka announced today.
Issuing a statement, the Australian High Commission said it has instructed travellers to exercise a high degree of caution due to the reduced impacts of COVID-19.
To travel to Sri Lanka, Australian travellers must show a negative COVID-19 PCR test report in English when checking in.
The test must be taken within 72 hours of departure or travellers will not be able to board the flight, it added.
The Australian High Commission further said that travellers will no longer need to undergo COVID-19 PCR testing on arrival or quarantine if they are fully vaccinated.
However, the Australian Government still maintains terrorism as a threat in Sri Lanka.
The Australian High Commission states that attacks could happen anywhere at any time and therefore, travellers have been warned that terrorists may target tourist areas, to avoid crowds, and follow the advice of local officials.
“Security has increased across the country following the 21 April 2019 terrorist attacks. Always carry travel and identification documents. Allow additional time to clear security checks, especially at airports,” it added. (NewsWire)
