NWP Governor removed from party chairmanship over controversial remark

The Sri Lanka Communist Party yesterday decided to remove Governor of the North Western Province (NWP) Raja Collure from the post of Chairman of the Party.

The move comes after Collure recently announced that the salaries of teachers and principals who engage in the trade union action despite schools officially commencing academic activities will be cancelled for the month of November.

Collure had told the media that he is vested with powers to take disciplinary action against teachers and principals who fail to report to schools.

Following his announcement, the Sri Lanka Communist Party had decided to remove him from his post as the Chairman of the party, as his statement was against the stance of the party.

Responding to the Sri Lanka Communist Party’s move, Raja Collure objected to the party’s decision to remove him as the Chairman of the party. (NewsWire)
