President’s Secretary P. B. Jayasundera has refuted a news report published by a local media institution pertaining to the payment for Indian fertilizers.
Aruna newspaper had reported that the payment of Rs. 290 million for Indian fertilizers had been made to a private account.
Stating that President’s Secretary P. B. Jayasundera had influenced the deal, the report further claimed that only Rs. 90 million was paid to India.
The newspaper further claimed that Jayasundera had requested for the remaining Rs. 200 million to be paid to him.
Responding to the news report, President’s Secretary P. B. Jayasundera refuted the allegations and said it was completely false, untrue, and a malicious news item that he strongly rejects.
Issuing a statement, he further called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to summon all parties involved in the news report and conduct a formal and comprehensive investigation into the matter. (NewsWire)
