A Fundamental Rights (FR) petition was filed at the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka today challenging the transfer of shares of the Yugadanavi power plant in Kerawalapitiya.
The petition was filed by Ven. Elle Gunawanse Thero and the Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
The Government recently signed an agreement to sell 40% of the Yugadanavi power plant to New Fortress Energy Ltd. of the USA.
Several parties, including the opposition and allied parties of the Government, have raised concerns over the deal. (NewsWire)
