4 out of 5 Covid vaccines used in Sri Lanka eligible for US Travel

The United States will accept the use by international visitors of COVID-19 vaccines authorized by U.S. regulators or the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said late on Friday.

CDC spokeswoman told Reuters Friday, “Six vaccines that are FDA authorized/approved or listed for emergency use by WHO will meet the criteria for travel to the U.S.”

Accordingly four vaccines out of five currently used in Sri Lanka are eligible for US travel.

AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer & Sinophram are among the vaccines that are approved when traveling to US.

Russia’s Sputnik vaccine has not yet been approved since it has not got the WHO approval as of yet. The Russian authorities are, however, optimistic that this vaccine will gain emergency use authorisation soon.

Nearly 160,000 people in Sri Lanka have been administered with the Sputnik vaccine so far. (NewsWire)
