The Provincial Council Elections will be held in the first quarter of 2022, Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) leader MP Mano Ganesan said today.
The MP stated via Twitter that the elections will be held under the former proportionate system in the first quarter of 2022.
He further said Minister Basil Rajapaksa today agreed to the proposals put forward at the Electoral Select Committee.
The Provincial Council elections have been delayed due to legal issues on the new mixed electoral system.
Meanwhile, according to the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who visited Sri Lanka last week, had also urged the Government to hold the Provincial Council elections without further delay. (NewsWire)
