The Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa visited farmers in the Tissamaharama Beralihela area today (04) as part of the second step in the ‘Govi Hadagasma’ program.
MP Premadasa inquired into the problems faced by the farming community, which is cultivating Green Gram as an additional crop, while he also exchanged views at length with the farmers in the area.
“The problems faced by farmers engaged in additional crop cultivation were discussed at length, and especially the lack of proper market for their produce, shortage of fertilizers and seeds, problems in methods of keeping harvest, breeding & spread of caterpillars like ‘Sena’ caterpillar for green gram cultivation were taken into particular consideration,” the Opposition Leader’s office said.
