Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has called on the authorities to either file a case against Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen or release him from prison.
Addressing Parliament today, the United National Party (UNP) leader requested the Speaker to inquire from the Attorney General if charges can be filed against Bathiudeen with the current witnesses and evidence pertaining to his arrest.
Bathiudeen is in prison since his arrest on 24th April 2021 over alleged links to the 2019 easter Sunday attacks.
The Parliamentarian has also been repeatedly remanded over another case pertaining to the death of a 16-year-old domestic maid who had been employed at his Colombo residence.
Commenting on the case, MP Ranil Wickremesinghe pointed out that MP Bathiudeen was in prison custody at the time of the incident. (NewsWire)
